FanimeCon 2008!

Journal Entry: Mon Jun 9, 2008, 7:07 PM
ALRIGHT!
WHO WENT TO FANIME ALL FOUR DAYS?!
-raises hand excitedly-
I actually managed to finish ALL my cosplays, including my little brother's cosplays. So in total, I suppose that makes 5 cosplays this year?
I say that's pretty decent considering I've only been cosplaying for a year.

For those who don't know, FanimeCon is a relatively large convention in the bay area that usually takes place on Memorial Day weekend. Sooo, the dates were May 23-26, 2008 (not including Day 0, which was the 22nd).

This year was incredibly exciting!
I went with my friends, and of course, Alicia :iconchickeybaby777:, Kevin :iconnyugh:, and Megan :iconmenghiskhan: were there as well.
My other friends I went with were Blake, Heather, Brian, Michael. And also, at his first Fanime, my adorable little brother Michael.
It was great, too, cause I got to meet up with people I met through other friends and make new friends as well!
There was Rickrolling, Carmelldansen, Hare Hare Yukai overdose, and Hardgay^^
Did I tell you that there was so much game this year?
Wow, I totally made myself lose the game.
Did I make you lose it as well?
HAH.

So let's have a little rundown, shall we?
Friday
Cosplayed as Haruhi Suzumiya from the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya!
I carpooled with Alicia (cosplayed as maid Mikuru) down to the convention and immediately fangirled as soon as we saw the first cosplayer.
Right when we stepped on Fanime grounds, we were eaten asked for photos by several photographers.
I'm sure that happens to everyone, but it makes someone happy when that happens, doesn't it?
And to make things even better, these two were the first cosplayers we truly noticed:
[link]
You aren't imagining it, by the way.
That is THE Jin :iconbehindinfinity: and Miguel :iconmerkymerx:
I literally died on the inside but came back JUST for them.
Cosplay idols gods, if one could name those.
I'd worship them, but that's blasphemus
^_^"
Please ignore that I said that, it sounded horribly stalkerish.

[link]
Adorable, right?
Well, seeing THEM made my day so much better.

Michael got glomped by fangirls and fangirled on during the whole weekend.
It was terribly amusing to see such a shy little boy at his first con.
<3

We traveled around the con some more, then did the Hare Hare Yukai outside, but we were hidden, thank God.
My skirt flew up lol. Luckily, Blake [ who was taping it ] isn't a perverted guy.
Though he did make fun of me some and giggled :grumpy:.

Saturday
Kingdom Hearts whole cast cosplay!
It was truly awesome.
I was Kairi, Alicia was Sora, Megan was Riku, Brother Michael [ lol. ] was Donald, Kevin was Goofy, Blake was Roxas, Heather was Namine, and Brian was Axel.
It was a little irritating. Ironically enough, the best group cosplay day ended up being the worst Fanime day for me and everyone else.
Amidst all of the chaos of photos and indecision, our group had a really hard time getting to any of the places we wanted to go to. Not to mention the fact that we argued a bit about what to do next and trying to find some of our "younger" group members that ran off. We tried heading for the Dealer's Room, which would normally have taken us a minute or so. But under certain circumstances, it took us nearly an hour.
We met King Mickey and Queen Minnie!
Brother Michael was so cute that he actually kneeled down as Donald for the King.
<3
[link]
Not the whole group, but seriously? How could I not show you guys this?
I love my friends.

The Kingdom Hearts gathering was EPIC WIN!
So many cool cosplays and so many pics taken.
I made new friends,
and to top it all off, we had crack pairing pics.
Sora and I took cute couple pics^^
I've found them, but being my lazy self... Let's just say it may take a while before I actually put them up here ^_^"
We fixed our day with a trip to Twilight Town by train - I mean, Japantown by lightrail.
:]
Went to this awesome sushi house, but missed the masquerade.
A shame, too, because the Marvel vs. Capcom, Baccano!, and several other skits were really good!
You know how there was no Entry #12 [ never speak of it! ]? Well, there's a good chance that that was us --> :iconcosplayinabox:
See, we sent them an email to tell them we wanted to perform in the masquerade, but it wasn't until after the convention that we realized we.. gave them the wrong email address ^_^"
But I did buy this awesome lolita dress!
Blake picked it out (but then again, he always picks out cute stuff for me because he's obsessed with cute things on girls. WOW, that doesn't sound creepy).
He is my Ginger:]

[link]
Not so flattering, but the best one of the bunch, I figured.
We also lost the game in this one section where those who lost the game had to dance, which was super fun.
Jesus walked by, doing his Buddy Christ thumbsup, and we started chanting "Je-sus!" over and over xD
Then he danced.
JESUS FTW!

Speaking of Jesus, anyone else see those "Turn or Burn" people?
Please know that not all Christians are like that.
I'm a Christian, and I really don't care who knows it, but man, those guys were incredibly stupid. Seriously, they should have just gone away.
Trying to ruin everyone's good time... pfft.:pissedoff:
D<
Props to the people who yelled at them and got them to get away from us.
I was so happy when the Jesus cosplayer came out and totally mocked those guys, f'sho.
Not to mention they got rickrolled.
Go V's! [ They smelled rather good, by the way ]

Sunday:
Oh, what a glorious day.
:]
Hinata cosplay in the morning!
I have to admit, I didn't really like cosplaying as her because the material i made the jacket out of was really thick, and I stood outside with the rest of the gathering and the hot sun beat down on me.
Plus, no one else from our group cosplayed from Naruto, and cosplays aren't really that fun unless you have friends who do it with you, right?
In addition to that, I heard someone say that no one likes Hinata anymore, and that made me feel very sad.
:unhappy:
But! I really do love my Hinata cosplay, so I decided to go to the Naruto gathering for a bit, then headed off into the AMV contest with my friends.
I saw the awesomest ones!
Especially the Code Gaess (SP?) and the Kingdom Hearts one.
The KH one wanted to make me cry! It was amazing.
I went home to change into Haruhi!
It was much more comfortable and more fun to be in, to tell you the truth.
Alicia called me on my way back to the con, and guess what she told me?
The An Cafe concert got cancelled!
I freaked out, of course. It was bad enough that the Q&A got cancelled, but the concert, too?

We tried taking our minds off the disappointment and went into the Artist's Alley instead, where the most epic thing happened.
I was exploring and taking a gander at all the lovely fanart when this table stopped me and asked me to do the Hare Hare Yukai. I was hesitant, but my Mikuru joined in, making me a happy camper.
:D
We had music with us, so they all got out of their booths and started dancing with Mikuru and I!
[link]
Cameras were whipped out and after much blushing from comments, we left.
EPIC WIN!
We did...stuff.
I reqruited new SOS Brigade members. And this cute little girl yelled out, "HARUHI!!"
I can't remember a whole lot of it, but I remember riding the train to Japantown again,
which rocked.
We ate at the Ramen House, which was DELICIOUS, then went back to Fanime.
Guess what? You know how the An Cafe concert was cancelled?
Turns out that it was back on once more, RIGHT WHEN WE LEFT.
We were going to get in line super early, too, so we were a little upset at those who were scheduling the events.
All was well when we got in!
We nearly died in the crowd, so we decided to head all the way back, which was so much better cause we got to dance and jump freely! An Cafe was amazing and so cute! Best concert I'd ever been to!
I kissed Miku.
Hehe, basically? [ In my dreams, right? ]
He drank from his waterbottle and threw it out at the crowd, and Alicia and I got to drink some of it^^
Fangirl mode, all the way that night.

Monday:
Lolita Ventriliquist Dummy
I got up super early because it was the last day of Fanime and played parapara for a couple hours.
:D
I must say, that game is very entertaining.
People kept thinking I was from some anime like Rozen Maiden or Count of Monte Cristo, oddly enough..
It was a rather uneventful day, save for two awesome incidents.
Basically we walked around the Artists Alley and Dealer's Room, then headed to line up for the An Cafe Q&A [ which was back on! ].
Words can't even describe how great that was and how hard my heart was pumping, so I won't bother.
But Jin and Miguel were there:D
I finally mustered up the courage to talk to them [ I was too shy to talk to them in the beginning, but cons can change a person by a lot! ]. And after handing them my chibi Naruto and Sasuke presents, we parted ways.
I hope they still remember me and my name..
^w^"
Me = total fangirl.
[link]

I probably left stuff out, but I suppose I can save those moments for the journal on :iconcosplayinabox:'s journal.
And I also didn't upload ALL my pictures because I didn't feel like it.. so.. yes. That is all for now.

Epic Win:
+An Cafe
+Jin and Miguel
+Friends
+Cosplays
+Merchandise
+Fanime in general lol.

Epic Fail:
+Protesters
+Scheduling
+Naruto gathering
+Sleep deprivation

Now, I am in a state of Post-Con Depression.
-sighs-

By the way, have I told you guys that I graduate in 5 school days?

Well, I've got to go study for finals.
Later, kiddos!

Haruhi in Disneyland!

Journal Entry: Thu May 29, 2008, 7:39 PM
Yes, I do see the play on words there.
That's a reference to Ouran High School Host Club (Haruhi in Wonderland) for all you non-Host Club watchers;D
I don't own Host Club by the way...

Who reads my journals anyway? It's rather depressing not getting comments back and feeling I've bored you.
-sobsob-
But I digress.

ENOUGH RAMBLING!
Disneyland was a loonngg time ago, but I realized I never bothered to make a journal about it!
Haruhi happened to visit Disneyland with her school choir and saw many things there, including a Kairi cosplayer. We went..um, Thursday through Sunday.
It got extremely hot down there.
[link]

[link]
Haruhi was so pumped and ready to take over the whole park. Yet the question remains: Why was the SOS Brigade not there?!
[link]
-sigh-
How does she expect to take over Disneyland if she gets lost?

Friday!
A friend of mine was wearing her Charizard shirt that day, and we happened to line up for Autopia. We were stopped for a while because of line reasons? Hard to explain. But the lady who was holding us back started talking about Pokemon, and in the end, we managed to hold up the line for quite a while and caused irritation with the people behind us.
It was amusing:D
:iconchickeybaby777: was wearing her Domo-kun shirt to Space Mountain and some Domo-kun fanboy and his friend happened to be working the ride. He got all excited and told us that he and his friend would let us keep our fastpasses and go on the ride twice in a row. The second time we went on, they weren't there. But the guy who was taking the tickets didn't bother taking our fastpasses (which was odd because the people right in front of us had their fastpasses taken). And the third time we got our fastpasses taken.
But seriously, Space Mountain three times in a row?
:]

While we waited in line for Space Mountain, Alicia and I got the idea of coming to the ride just to do a "photoshoot" for Haruhi Suzumiya in our outerspace cosplays (as if we actually made them yet!). Or for plain old Haruhi Suzumiya.
-_-"
Haruhi DID look hard and was impatient to find the perfect photograph spot.
[link]
That Haruhi's too obsessed with aliens, time travelers, and espers...
[link]
But we happened to find a great shot of the inside!

Oh look, a cosplayer!
[link]
I only kid.
But then again, I don't? Disneyland characters are really cosplaying, don't let them tell you otherwise!

Saturday was great fun being Haruhi.
While we were waiting in the Matterhorn line, :iconchickeybaby777: and I overheard a girl saying "headband" and we look over to find some fangirl looking girl looking at me and whispering excitedly to her friend.
And I quote: "Yeah! She even has the perfect hair for her!"
:D
You can't imagine how excited I felt.

We proceeded to go to California Adventure, and somehow, Haruhi took over Beast's Castle.
[link]
Look at her, all gloating like. It's a shame Kyon wasn't there to talk some sense into her.
[link]
Behold! She presents to you...something. Perhaps showing the dominated lord of the castle?
Well, many other things happened over the 4 day period, but I'd rather not bore you with the details.
I'm sure you'd like the actual cosplays, right?

[link]
In the end, Haruhi did manage a complete domination of Disneyland.
But hey, was it really a shock?

Soon! The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya;

Journal Entry: Thu Apr 3, 2008, 12:05 AM
Please wait a little bit longer.
^^"
It's taking a lot longer than I've expected to complete my cosplays for Fanime [which is coming in fast! ] due to school and other things.
Yeah, same excuse I know, but I really can't help these things.
I'm almost done with Haruhi Suzumiya [ Long-Sleeved version ]! I should be able to finish by this weekend, if not sooner.

I'm still debating on cutting my hair to her short length.
Yes, the hair I've worked so hard to grow since last summer..
D:
If I cut it, it'll be the same exact length as back then!
Unfortunately, I can't put more money towards buying a wig...

|Photoshoot: The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya|
So, I went over to :iconchickeybaby777:'s house last week to work on my cosplay, putting a couple finishing touches on it. And that led to a trial photoshoot, like a progress thing for you guys!
Unfortunately the lighting caused a lot of shadows and well, yeah. We worked through it though, despite the hardships!
-dramaticpose-
You can find the pictures here:
[link]

I don't know if I've told you about our cosplay group, CosplayInABox.
:iconcosplayinabox:
I don't think I have... :O
-is shocked-
So if you haven't heard of us, go check us out, please!

|Currently Obsessed with: Get Backers|
I actually watched the first season this summer and fell madly in love with it. I had to stop though because I wanted to wait for the second season to fall into my lap. Sure enough, a friend got it for her birthday and let me borrow it for spring break!
I have re-discovered an anime that I used to be [and AM] really, really obsessed with! This just may be my second favorite anime in the whole world, you know?
It's hard to pick between characters, like which is your favorite. They're just so funny!
Especially that comedy kid, Emishi. Then again, how can you not love a crossdressing thread spinner like Kazuki? I could go on for ages about the characters, but I won't.
You'll have to find out yourself!
;D
I found ultimate bishis while I watched it!
-totally torn between Ban and Ginji-
Why must fictional boys be fictional? I must be pretty pathetic.
Those guys are just so... GRR! Making fangirls swoon and sigh like that should be illegal...
Then again..
:]
So there, that should explain my sudden explosion of Get Backers favorites on my.. favorites.

Twilight.

Journal Entry: Sat Dec 15, 2007, 1:17 PM
I officially take back EVERTHING I said about my favorite books.

TWILIGHT.
is the singlemostamazingbook.
ever.

I'd been meaning to read it for the longest time (with :iconmenghiskhan:'s insistance),
but was finally forced to by a person I consider one of my best friends, :iconcourtnayyxlove: (and partially because of the rants she and :iconchickeybaby777: had)

I just finished the first book,
and am very obsessed with EDWARD CULLEN, thank you very much.
though maybe not near as obsessed as Bella...
maybe more? XD
I'd turn vampire for the guy...
-longhugedramaticlongingsigh-

INTHATSPIRIT:
I have decided to do some fanart of Mr. Edward Cullen, in all his sparkling perfection.

I'd rant about Edward's topaz eyes, bronze hair, shimmering skin, mysterious and dangerous (yet totally protective and safe) nature, talents and skills, ultrawhite killer smile, his voice, his laugh, and all the wonderful things about him...
but you probably don't want to hear about that ^_O
